1.What do I need to use Ifoon Broadband Phone service ?
You need a high-speed Internet connection -- usually cable or DSL. You need a router, if you want to use your computer for browsing as well as Telephone. If you don't have a router you can buy one from us or in the market. If you have a ATA (Analog to digital adaptor), then you are all set. The IP phones, which you get from us, have two-port connection by which you can connect your computer without any router.
2.What is an Internet or broadband phone or VOIP phone?
High-speed Internet access (also known as Broadband) is a connection to your home that provides fast access to the Internet. These connections can be a T-1, Fractional T-1, T-3, DSL or Cable modem. Internet providers in Belgium are Belgacom, Tiscalli, and Telnet etc.. For maximum sound quality, we recommend connections that are 256Kbps or higher in both directions.
3.Can I use my existing Phone with your service?
Yes, you may use your own device with any SIP-compatible device to connect to our service. This includes your own Cisco-ATA 186, an IP phone, a software phone, etc.
4.Is my phone number listed in the Phone Book?
No. They are not listed in the public phone book. But you can take special phone numbers from us, which can be listed in the phone book.
5.Does Ifoon work with Dial up connection?
No, you must have a high-speed Internet service to use Ifoon, like a high-speed cable modem or DSL.
6.Does Ifoon service work with DSL service delivered by satellite?
No, our service does not work with satellite service.
7.I already have a network in my home. Will I be able to subscribe to your service and use my existing networking equipment?
Ifoon will integrate with most networks very easily as long as the network supports NAT (Network Address Translation) and DHCP. NAT is the translation of an Internet Protocol address used within one network to a different IP address known within another network. Ifoon service works well with static and dynamic IP addresses.
8.My PC only has a USB connection. Will the Phone Adaptor fit into my network?
You will need to switch your high-speed Internet connection from USB to Ethernet in order to use our service. You must purchase a router. If your computer does not have an Ethernet card, you can purchase a USB to Ethernet Conversion cable to connect your computer to the router, and ultimately the Internet.
9.Does the person I am calling need to have your service too?
No, you can call anyone (Ifoon user, any Fixed line, Mobile etc..) you like.
10.How do I dial International numbers?
You can dial international numbers with the dialling format of country code + area code + line number. Ifoon uses E.164 dialling format.
11.Can I use my phone during power outage?
Typically, no. The ATA and your cable or DSL modem both require electricity to operate. Some customers, however, use a small desktop UPS (battery backup power) so that they can continue making calls for a short time when the power goes out. Ifoon does not provide UPS's, but they are readily available at most computer stores.
12.Do you have a support phone number?
The best way to get your question answered or problem solved is to email us at mailto:contact@ifoon.com or mailto:support@ifoon.com. If a phone call is necessary, one of our customer service representatives or engineers will contact you. This allows us to answer common questions much more quickly while making sure you don't have to wait on hold to speak to someone!

No, Ifoon broadband phone service is typically used with a touch-tone phone and your high-speed Internet access. You can, however, have calls forwarded to your cell phone using our various forwarding features.
14.Do I need a computer?
No, you do not need a computer for Ifoon to work. You may need one to access our website if you intend on using advanced features like call management, but it is not a requirement.
15.What is a VoIP ?
A category of hardware and software that enables people to make telephone calls via the Internet. Voice signals are converted to packets of data, which are transmitted on shared, public lines, hence avoiding the tolls of the traditional, public-switched telephone network (PSTN).

5.What is a router and do I need one?
A router is a device that allows you to connect more than one piece of equipment to your DSL or Cable modem. You do not need a router to use Ifoon. The Phone Adaptor that we provide has built-in basic routing functionality, which allows you to connect your computer or your existing home network to your Internet connection. You will be able to use your Ifoon service at the same time that you surf the web without needing any additional equipment.
6.Do you support TV or Video on Demand?
We do not currently support DirecTV/Video on Demand. We will provide in near future.
7.Will your service work if I'm using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) technology?
We do not recommend ICS for Windows. The lease time is automatically set for only 6 minutes. The Phone Adaptor needs a virtually infinite lease time. Otherwise the Phone Adaptor may reboot in the middle of a call. We recommend that you purchase a DSL/Cable Web-safe router that will provide NAT and DHCP for your network.
8.What is an ATA adaptor?
ATA- Analogue Telephone Adaptor is a device that turns traditional telephone devices into IP devices. It allows you to connect analogue telephones and faxes to an IP telephony network.
9.What is the difference between CISCO ATA and Elesign IP phone?
The Cisco ATA 186 works as an adaptor between your Internet connection and a telephone, enabling you to use any home phone even a cordless one. Yes, we find that some customers use their mobile phone as a back up and use the Broadband Phone as their primary landline, with the understanding and that power and Internet connections could disrupt Broadband services.
